Two days ago I noticed a little house spider crawling on the wall in my room.I’m not really a fan of insects with more than six legs but this one was kind of cute and I didn’t mind having him around. Yesterday I sow him (not sure why my mind suggested it’s „him“ and not „her“) on the chair and I even spoke to him for a while (I know what you think right now and want to assure you that it doesn’t happen very often to talk to spiders, but…ah, whatever). Later on, while washing my teeth, I felt something on my neck. Looked in the mirror – it was my little fellow. I put him gently aside and went to bed. This morning I found it flat as a pancake on the bathroom floor. Now, this may sound rather silly, but I felt sad looking at my new little buddy laying smashed on the floor. Non of my flatmates confessed the crime. I have no choice but to accept that it was a pure accident and that it was quick.

There is a tube strike going on in London at the moment and as a result of that I got home by taxi last night. As a lack of running underground the streets were flooded with cars and walking people. It took me about 1.5 hours to get to my place, but I do not regret a single minute of my journey. The driver introduced me to the music of Buena Vista Social Club, which led us to an interesting discussion about Cuba and its unique social atmosphere and also left me in a very relaxed state of mind. I got off that car in such a mellow mood…thinking of which just brings the smile back on my face..and makes me put Buena Vista on again of course

The air con in the office is not working properly today (in fact, not working at all) and there is no chance this to be fixed till tomorrow. It’s like being in a Roman Steam Room at the moment. The coolest place in the building remain the toilets.
